Event Photography Frequently Asked Questions

Event photography is a broad category of professional photography services that focuses on capturing the life and energy of live events. Examples include corporate events, sporting events, live shows, and private events. Many people associate weddings with its own style of photography, but it also falls under the event photography umbrella.

Event photographers provide their clients with consistent, high-quality images of their events. Most marketing professionals will tell you images convey so much more meaning than words alone. The best way to tell a story about your event or brand is through event photos. You should hire an event photographer to help you capture your event and further your brand and mission.

I make sure to filter through my photos before I hand them back over to my clients. One of my biggest pet peeves is photographers promising 100+ photos an hour, but then they provide every single photo they took, with a many them looking like repeats. I guarantee you will receive at least 45 unique photos per hour. When you work with me, you can rest assured you are paying for quality images and not receiving many mediocre photos.

That depends on how long your event is. I typically spend an hour or two editing photos for every hour of shooting time. Editing time includes basic retouches and ensuring the lighting is fully balanced. If you require additional edits or retouching, you can expect the time it takes photos to return to you to also increase. In other words, shorter events (2-3 hours long) can expect their photos back within 2-3 days. For more extended events (10+ hours long), you can expect pictures back within 1-2 weeks.

I shoot all of my events in the D.C. metro area. I am based in Northern Virginia but regularly travel into D.C. and Maryland to shoot events. Additionally, I am available for travel outside of the DMV. If you are holding an event requiring travel, please contact me for a personalized quote.

I cover a variety of events, both private and corporate. Events I shoot include parties, corporate events, conferences, community events, weddings, and more. In other words, I cover many events, but the best way to understand your photography needs is to contact me. I will provide you with a free quote and even point you in the right direction if my services don’t align with your needs.

It’s my job to know how to shoot in areas with low light, especially if flash photography isn’t allowed. There are some limitations to what I can do, but I will work to the best of my ability to capture quality photos for your event. I have previously shot in dark conference rooms in rooms with dim mood lighting.

My prices include basic retouches to balance the photos. I will provide you with all images in a gallery that are in a JPEG format with a high-quality resolution after the pictures have been edited.
